Forty two cases of missed abortion were reviewed with the clinical data, from January 1, 1967 to December 31, 1971 at the Dept. of Obst.-Hyn. Han-Il Hospital. The results were as follows; 1) The incidence was 4.4% and increased tendency in aged women. 2) The symptomes and signs; Amenorrhea 100%, decrease in uterine size 66%, increased vaginal discharge 48%, vaginal bleeding 65%, abdominal pain & lumbago 24%, weight loss 5%, cessation of fetal movement 17%, chill & fever 5%, anorexia 5%. 3) The history of hormone treatment before the development of missed abortion ; 33%. 4) Complication of hypofibrinogenemia; none. 5) Practice of active management; D & C alone 7.1%, D & C with IV pitocin 64.3%, high conc. IV pitocin 11.8%, intrauterine rubber bag with IV pitocin 14.3%, abdominal hysterotomy 2.4%. 6) Morbidity : Infection 2.3%, hemorrhage 4.7%.
